Connect, serve, and grow in community at Woodlawn through its active committees, educational programs, and welcoming ministries.
Each Sunday after church, the Fellowship Committee provides light refreshments for our guests and congregation in the Fellowship Hall adjacent to the Sanctuary. Over coffee, punch, fruit, and dessert, we spend time chatting as a community, allowing time to make new friendships and strengthen existing ones. This is a great time for guests to get to know our members and learn more about the different activities and events occurring at the church. We hope you’ll join us!
Music Director Mary Moore leads the choir on Sunday mornings as they sing upbeat, familiar hymns and well chosen selections for the musical part of worship. Many members have enjoyed singing as part of Woodlawn’s choir for years! If you like to sing, we invite you to come to rehearsal Thursdays at 4:30 pm…use the 26th Avenue entrance. The choir and director are under the direction of Worship Chair, Lydia Woodyer. As a way to foster fellowship and get to know each other and our guests better, Woodlawn offers free Bingo the third Friday of every month at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall. We have free prizes for the winners, and offer soda and snacks for sale for a minimal charge. Some of our past prizes have included $5 gift cards to Subway and Sweetbay. Bring your friends and neighbors and join us for fun and prizes!
The Fellowship Committee helps make Woodlawn feel like home by creating a warm, welcoming space after worship and during special events. Several dedicated teams prepare coffee, punch, and refreshments each Sunday—often including fresh fruit and vegetables thanks to a health-focused grant. They also provide hospitality for receptions and memorial services. If you’d like to help with food or setup, or just want to learn more, please contact the church office.
The Missions Committee is one of Woodlawn’s most active ministries, dedicated to serving others through hands-on outreach and support. In addition to three annual special offerings—Souper Bowl of Caring (February), One Great Hour of Sharing (Easter), and Joy Gift (Christmas)—the committee supports local efforts such as Bay Pines VA, Daystar Life Center, Metropolitan Ministries, the Free Clinic, and the Christmas Toy Shop. Food, clothing, toys, and household donations are ongoing, with special collections for CASA during the holidays. Interested in helping? If planning fun is your thing, this is the group to join! The Outreach Committee creates welcoming, engaging events for church members, neighbors, and guests alike. Popular activities include Free Bingo Friday (most third Fridays), the annual Pet Fair and Blessing of the Animals, the fall Bazaar with food and neighborhood yard sales, and Kids’ Craft Day in December featuring stories, snacks, and take-home projects. Woodlawn’s Worship Committee provides the initial welcoming to guests and members to join us for worship. Many folks chat with friends or sit quietly to begin worship. The pastor strives to connect our life challenges today to teachings of scripture from long ago.
Communion is served the first Sunday of the month. Everyone is welcome to join in communion.
Worship Committee members coordinate all various parts of the worship service. Unless otherwise noted, the Worship Committee meets at 9:30 am the second Tuesday of each month in Conference Room A, just off Fellowship Hall.
